I spent several years coaching artistic gymnastics (recreational and competitive) in London and Kitchener-Waterloo. I hold my NCCP Women's Artistic Gymnastics Level 2 and NCCP Trampoline Level 1 coaching certifications, as well as certifications in Respect in Sport, Risk Management, and flexibility teacher training with Alixa Flexibility.
I've taught circus classes and workshops across Southern Ontario for adults and children of all ages for almost a decade. I coached at Cirque-ability in Toronto for nearly five years, running the advanced trapeze program for adults as well as the Kids Acro Performance Team. I spent a further five years honing my coaching techniques in trapeze, handbalancing and acro at TriCity Centre for Circus Arts in Cambridge.
I hold current certifications in First Aid and CPR.
It is my true belief that circus is for every body. With this as my foundation, I strive to make my teaching environment as welcoming, approachable and accessible as possible. I work from a safety-first and injury-prevention standpoint with a firm focus on safe technique and bodily health and integrity. Through logical, tailored skill progressions, I work with students to build strength, stability and confidence in their practice in a way that is supportive to their unique bodies, abilities and goals while still allowing space for exploration, play and personal artistic expression.
Lessons with me are challenging yet fun and have a healthy dose of humour—it's circus, after all! You might leave with some new calluses and bruises, but also a sense of amazement at what your body is capable of.
