REST is a one-act, duo contemporary circus show that draws on the physical language of hand balancing, partner work, trapeze and aerial fabric through a sensory-rich and immersive audience experience.
Inspired by the 1892 novella The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, REST explores themes of mental health, isolation, female agency and bodily autonomy.
Co-created by Wound Up Circus Collective:
Jessie Fraser – Direction, dramaturgy
Britt Howlett – Concept, choreography, performer
Emily Hughes – Choreography, performer
Original score by Robert Busiakiewicz
Created with support from Canada Council for the Arts, Hercinia Arts Collective and Guelph Arts Council.
